Book Blitz: Cursed by Evangeline Anderson

Title: Cursed by Evangeline Anderson
Series: (Brides of the Kindred #13)
Publication date: October 31st 2014
Genres: Adult, Romance, Science Fiction

Commander Stavros Rii of the Kindred is a Sin Eater–thick black lines cover his back and neck causing him to feel the pain of others. It is a curse that threatens to shorten his life and makes him unable to bond with a female–not that he’s ever found one he wants to bond with. Until he meets Charlie.
Charlie Sayers is an agent with the Earth Protection Bureau– and anti Kindred agency dedicated to ridding the world of the big aliens. Charlie joined the EPB out of a sense of patriotism but she has her own reasons to hate the Kindred.
But she has bigger problems than the Kindred at the moment–the Enhanced Ones have come to Earth and they’re planning to take over the planet, enslave the inhabitants and strip them of all emotion. Charlie can’t have that so she agrees to go undercover with Stavros to find the Heart of Love–an artifact which can destroy their mutual enemy forever.
On their dangerous and difficult mission, Charlie learns that going undercover with your worst enemy can rapidly turn him into your best friend…or your lover. Can she hold on to her beliefs and stay true to herself, or will she lose her heart to Stavros? And even if she gives in to desire, will Stav be able to bond her to him?
Or are they Cursed to be apart forever?

“You can put me down now.” Charlie’s heart was pounding—she wasn’t sure why. “I mean, I really am fine.” “No you’re not. You’re wounded. And I must heal you.” The look in his eyes was beyond intense as he cupped her cheek. “But...” Charlie started to protest, her heart pounding. “Open to me.” His voice had gone deep and soft and commanding. “Open and let me heal you, Charlotte.” “I...” But further words of protest seemed to die on her lips as he bent her over his arm and sealed his mouth to hers. Charlie gave a little gasp as she felt his lips press gently but firmly to hers. Then his tongue was there, tracing the seam of her lips, seeking entrance. She wanted to pull away and cuss at him—tell him he had no right. Instead she felt her lips parting, allowing him in when she knew she shouldn’t. He’s just healing me, she told herself desperately. It’s not really a kiss. But it certainly felt like one, especially when his tongue entwined with hers and he sucked gently, as though inviting her to explore his mouth as he was exploring hers.

Charlie gave a helpless little moan and took his unspoken invitation. God, his mouth was so warm and he tasted like cinnamon—cinnamon and some exotic mint she’d never had before. She could feel the edges of his fangs but this time he somehow managed to keep from cutting her with them even when the tip of her tongue danced dangerously over their razor-sharp points. The kiss went on and on and his dark, spicy scent filled her senses until Charlie felt like she was drowning in him, being completely consumed from the inside out.

#3 Abe’s Workout Tips

Today I want to talk about what stirs me up when I look at Nikki.

First her eyes. Fucking gorgeous: sandy brown and hiding nothing. Anger, confusion,

hurt, insecurity, confidence, need, and desire. I know exactly what she is thinking when I

look into them and it draws me in at breakneck speed.

Now, we move on to something I can’t get enough of, ‘dat ass (my inner voice of course.

Abe O’Donnell CFO may not say that, but Abe O’Donnell who hung out on the shore

knows a great ass).

Nikki’s ass is an eleven on a scale of 1-10. Have I mentioned? Oh yeah, I have.

The Giver

Title: The Giver (The Giver Quartet #1)
Author: Lois Lowry
Summary: Jonas's world is perfect. Everything is under control. There is no war or fear or pain. There are no choices. Every person is assigned a role in the Community. When Jonas turns twelve, he is singled out to receive special training from The Giver. The Giver alone holds the memories of the true pain and pleasure of life. Now, it is time for Jonas to receive the truth. There is no turning back.

Review: Stunning. In Jonas' perfect world, everyone is planned. Your life is mapped out carefully. It is a world of Utopia, perfectness. The elders command you. They choose who you are, your spouse, your children, your job. Until Jonas is selected to be receiver of memory. Together he and the Giver come up with a plan to help their community see, a plan destined to change everything... Amazing, Lois Lowry is meticulous, and doesn't let a single detail ruin her reputation.

They meet Abraham Lincoln, Aristotle, and Alexander the great. But then comes the interesting- Dak's parents! Review: The Staff of Serapis by Rick Riordan

The Staff of Serapis (Percy Jackson & Kane Chronicles Crossover #2) by Rick Riordan
Publisher: Disney-Hyperion
Goodreads Summary: In this adventure, Annabeth encounters more oddities in the subway than usual, including a two-headed monster and a younger blond girl who reminds her a little of herself. This is the story fans have asked for, in which Annabeth Chase teams up with Sadie Kane. The demigod daughter of Athena and the young magician from Brooklyn House take on a larger-than-life foe from the ancient world. Perhaps even more disturbing than the power-hungry god they encounter is the revelation that he is being controlled by someone—someone all too familiar to Sadie. As a special bonus, the first chapter of THE BLOOD OF OLYMPUS, the final book in the Heroes of Olympus series, is included.
Rating: 5 Stars
Review: Great. In this tale Annabeth Chase and Sadie Kane work together to defeat Serapis, the god of Alexandria. It is hard, but in the end, they win with trickery and flattery as their main tools. Told from Annabeth's perspective, this is amazing.

Review: The Blood of Olympus by Rick Riordan

The Blood of Olympus (Percy Jackson: The Heroes of Olympus #5) by Rick Riordan
Publisher: Disney-Hyperion Books
Goodreads Summary: Though the Greek and Roman crewmembers of the Argo II have made progress in their many quests, they still seem no closer to defeating the earth mother, Gaia. Her giants have risen—all of them—and they're stronger than ever. They must be stopped before the Feast of Spes, when Gaia plans to have two demigods sacrificed in Athens. She needs their blood—the blood of Olympus—in order to wake.

The demigods are having more frequent visions of a terrible battle at Camp Half-Blood. The Roman legion from Camp Jupiter, led by Octavian, is almost within striking distance. Though it is tempting to take the Athena Parthenos to Athens to use as a secret weapon, the friends know that the huge statue belongs back on Long Island, where it "might" be able to stop a war between the two camps.

The Athena Parthenos will go west; the Argo II will go east. The gods, still suffering from multiple personality disorder, are useless. How can a handful of young demigods hope to persevere against Gaia's army of powerful giants? As dangerous as it is to head to Athens, they have no other option. They have sacrificed too much already. And if Gaia wakes, it is game over.
Rating: Review:  Brilliant. Rick Riordan never fails to surprise, and his descriptive descriptions make reading the books a whole lot easier. The seven Demigods are back, with more challenges to face, and more sacrifices to make. Eventually, the demigods manage to make everything work before the day Gaia is to rise. This is just amazing, the plots all very clear. Rick Riordan never fails to impress.

Soundtrack Saturday (2)

Soundtrack Saturday is a book meme created by Erin at The Hardcover Lover.

Today's book is Countdown, The 39 Clues: Unstoppable #3

I chose this because from the first page, Amy and Dan are hunted by the paparazzi and J. Rutherford Pierce's men. This song depicts their determination to escape, although often narrowly.

I chose this because Amy has to make so many choices and sacrifices, her world is painful to live in. Her desire to protect is overwhelming.

I chose this because of Jake's hard life, and his natural jealousy and hurt when Amy turned around, and away from him. This song describes his feelings.

I chose this because Amy and Jake's relationship is complicated, and they are hard on themselves and don't make it easy.

I chose this because of all the sacrifices, choices, consequences... Their world is a hard and cold one.

Review: The Death Cure by James Dashner

The Death Cure (The Maze Runner #3) by James Dashner

What WICKED doesn’t know is that Thomas remembers far more than they think. And it’s enough to prove that he can’t believe a word of what they say.

The truth will be terrifying.

Thomas beat the Maze. He survived the Scorch. He’ll risk anything to save his friends. But the truth might be what ends it all.

The time for lies is over.

Review: The Scorch Trials by James Dashner

The Scorch Trials (The Maze Runner #2) by James Dashner
Publisher: Delacorte Press
Goodreads Summary: Solving the Maze was supposed to be the end.

Thomas was sure that escape from the Maze would mean freedom for him and the Gladers. But WICKED isn’t done yet. Phase Two has just begun. The Scorch.

There are no rules. There is no help. You either make it or you die.

The Gladers have two weeks to cross through the Scorch—the most burned-out section of the world. And WICKED has made sure to adjust the variables and stack the odds against them.

Friendships will be tested. Loyalties will be broken. All bets are off.

There are others now. Their survival depends on the Gladers’ destruction—and they’re determined to survive.
Rating: 5 StarsReview:  Amazing. The brilliant sequel to the Maze Runner, Thomas feels different without Teresa by his side. Even though he is warned, he doesn't believe her, and leads him to feel betrayed, exactly what WICKED wants. But, in the end, Thomas finds peace again, and he and most of the gladers survive the scorch trials, along with most of the other group, from the second maze. James Dashner again creates a stunning novel, and the Maze Runner's spirit is embedded in this one, too.
